Savory Bread Recipe with Cheese and Jalapeno

When you are craving something a little spicier then my savory bread recipe that has loads of cheese, some jalapeno and red bell peppers combined with a touch of garlic, could be just what you are craving.

The spices in this savoury loaf blend and match nicely with the melted cheese giving you an unforgettable taste and leaving you with a craving for more.

Savoury bread loaves are also fairly versatile so spices and ingredients can be changed to suit your own personal tastes. I personally like a little chili and hot spice so I added the Jalapeno. Red peppers can also be substituted with green or yellow peppers or a combination of the three.

Ingredients

  • 280 gr Flour
  • 2 tsp Baking Powder
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 30 ml Oil
  • 2 lrg Eggs
  • 130 gr Cheese grated
  • ½ lrg Red bell pepper
  • 1 lrg Jalapeno
  • 1 lrg clove Garlic
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Dill Optional

Instructions

  • In your mixing bowl, add flour, baking powder, salt and sugar and mix.
  • Chop bell pepper into cubes and add to grated cheese. Remove seeds from Lalapeno and slice finely. Add to cheese.
  • Preheat oven to 200℃
  • Beat the 2 eggs In a large mixing bowl. Add the oil. Add dill and crushed garlic. Mix all together.
  • Add the milk and mix well. Add ½ of the flour and combine well.
  • Add the cheese, pepper, and jalapeno and mix well. Now add the rest of the flour and mix well.
  • Pour the mixture into a well-greased loaf pan. I prefer to lie my pan with baking paper. Smooth down the top of the mixture.
  • Place in a 200℃ oven for 20 minutes. Thereafter turn down to 170℃ and bake for a further 25 to 30 minutes
  • Remove from oven, check that it is cooked through. Allow to cool for 10 minutes.
  • Remove from loaf pan. Slice and enjoy.
