Ingredients

  • 500 gr Beef Bones
  • 1 med Onion
  • 1 med Carrot
  • 4 each Peppercorns whole
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 4 med Bay Leaves
  • 2.5 lt Water

Instructions

  • Add the beef bones (should have a small amount of fat and meat left on) to your oressure cooker pot.
  • Cut the peeled onion in half and add to the pot.
  • Cut the carrot in half and add to the pot.
  • Add the peppercorns, bay leaves, and salt.
  • Add water to cover the bones, should be 2 to 2.5 litres of water.
  • Close pressure cooker. Set to medium pressure and cook for 1 hour.
  • Once the hour has passed, release pressure from cooker and open once the safety valve has released. Take care that you are nor scalded by the escaping steam.
  • Drain teh liquid through a sieve and store in an airtight suitable container.
  • The meat and fat left on the bones as well as the cooked carrot and onions can be used to add to sandwiches, or to a small meal.
  • The bone broth may be frozen or kept in a refrigerator until ready to be used.
